ZESCO and GreenCo Execute System Operations Agreement (SOA)
Africa GreenCo Group, through its Zambian-based operating company GreenCo Power Services Limited, is delighted to announce the successful execution of a System Operations Agreement (SOA) with ZESCO Limited. The SOA was initialed on 28th June 2023 (photo below), as witnessed by PIDG’s GuarantCo Team and officially signed by the ZESCO Managing Director, Engineer Victor Mapani and the CEO of GreenCo, Ms. Ana Hajduka on the 6th of October 2023.
The milestone SOA outlines the operational details for GreenCo’s supply of electricity from the 25MW Ilute Solar PV plant in Western Province, Zambia onto ZESCO’s power grid, which will then be sold into the Southern Africa Power Pool (SAPP). This collaboration between ZESCO and GreenCo highlights the viability of the open access regime in the Zambian Electricity Supply Industry (ESI), in accordance with legislative changes made in 2019.
This is a timely development ahead of GreenCo’s participation at the upcoming COP 28 in the United Arab Emirates. GreenCo’s participation at the COP 28 is set to highlight our achievements in capital mobilization and the bankability of offtake.
