Joel is currently a PhD candidate at the School of Oriental and African Studies in the United Kingdom. His evolving research considers investment constraints, governance structures, and power-sector resilience impacts of rural electrification via renewable energy mini-grids. His 8 years of experience as a researcher have taken him to live and work in several emerging and developing markets, executing engagements for governments and energy and investment agencies across the Middle East and Southern Africa. Joel holds an MSC from the London School of Economics, and a BA (Hons) from the University of Cambridge and is a fellow at the Commonwealth Africa Initiative.
